You can enjoy an evening at the races at the Northern Hotel on Friday, March 23, when the horses will be “under the starter’s orders”, the first race taking place at 7.30 pm.
Members of Brechin Rotary Club were finalising the details of the race night at their business meeting last week, and they have chosen the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) as the beneficiary.
A spokesman for the club said: “We have chosen to support CHAS as it does such good work here in Scotland.
“CHAS is the only charity in Scotland that provides vital hospice services for children and young people with life-shortening conditions.
“They offer care for the whole family in their two children’s hospices, Rachel House in Kinross and Robin House in Balloch.
“They also run a home-care service called CHAS at Home, helping families in their own homes across Scotland when they need it most.
“We know that CHAS currently supports over 250 families, as well as a significant number of families who receive bereavement support.”
“The usual race night format of thrills and excitement is planned, with also an opportunity to sponsor races and horses.
“We look forward to a good crowd of race-going Brechiners on the evening, having a good time cheering on their favourite nags. Sponsoring a race costs £50 and a horse only £5. Some of the races have already found sponsors but if you, or your business, would like to support CHAS with sponsorship then contact Jim Houston on 01356 625532 or 07919121893.
“It promises to be a fun evening raising money for such a brilliant and worthwhile cause.”
