Opera evening boosts charity work

St Andrews University Gilbert and Sullivan presented a wonderful evening of songs from the various operas on Saturday evening.

The organisers, Irebe Gillies and Cheryl Birse, were concerned that some of the audience would not make it due to the very icy conditions of the roads but everyone managed to pop along to the Burn House and get home safely. A total of £731.35 was raised for the project at Goodwill and Growth South Africa UK.

“Between the Burns Supper and the Gilbert and Sullivan evening we are now able to forward £1193.85, which will be used for materials for the pre-school and aid four young ladies to become infant teachers, explains Irene.

“Cheryl and I would both like to thank all who have supported us with these two events.

“Some raffle prizes were not uplifted and are as follows:- pink 215, 328 and 360; green 211, 322, 354 and 409; orange 165, 272, 202 and 237; white 270 and 346. Contact Cheryl on 01356626282 or Irene on 01356624446.
