It is time for Combined Productions’ 2015 pantomime – Cinderella, where, after a few years away, they return to the village of Marymuir (the small hamlet allegedly situated somewhere between Marykirk and Kirriemuir) and focus on a few of the more colourful characters who live there.
The focus of this year’s tale is the Hardup family, consisting of the Baron (who is always skint), his daughter Cinderella (who is pretty, charming, polite and sweet), his new wife, the evil Baroness (married sight unseen) stepdaughters Mona and Grizelda (who are ugly, rude, brutal and scary), and their faithful servant Buttons (who fancies Cinders, but has no chance).
The family’s lives are turned upside down with the return to the kingdom of Prince Charming and his manservant Dandini, who are looking for hot dates and potential partners, unfortunately so are Mona and Grizelda.
What follows is a hotchpotch of Fairy Godmothers, magic, slippers, hunts, a royal ball chase scenes and treachery punctuated with song and dance. You can be sure of a few laughs along the way. Tickets are available at David Robinsons Opticians. The show is runs from Wednesday, December 2, to Saturday, December 5, with a matinee on the Saturday, at the City Hall, Brechin.
