Stracathro Primary School Parent Council has received a £250 grant from Keep Scotland Beautiful Community Grant.
The group was one of four in Angus to received the award from which is funded from the proceeds of the single carrier bag charge collected by Tesco in Scotland
Stracathro Primary School Parent Council used its funding to involve pupils in improving the local village hall. The hall, which is used by pupils during the winter months for PE, was in desperate need of a facelift and the pupils rallied round to select hardy plants and planters to brighten up the hall and make it a focal point of the village all year round.
Derek Robertson, chief executive of Keep Scotland Beautiful, said: “The Community Grant Scheme has supported over 200 projects across Scotland. We are delighted to put the money collected from Tesco customers to good use and support projects to improve local environmental quality for their own community.
“Keep Scotland Beautiful is proud of the positive impact the Community Grant Scheme has, and is having, on communities throughout Scotland.”
