Parents urged on childcare check

Parents of two-year-olds across Angus are being urged to check and see if they qualify for free childcare.

Under a new national scheme, families who meet certain criteria can access more than three hours of early learning and childcare, including private nurseries and playgroups.

If your child’s second birthday falls between March 1, 2014, and February 28, 2015, and if as a parent you are receiving any of the following benefits, then your child may be eligible for a place:

Job seekers allowance

Income support

Employment & Support Allowance

Disability Living Allowance

Pension credit

Your child may also be eligible if:

you are looking after them as a kinship carer

they are, or have been at any time since their second birthday, been looked after

they have a parent appointed guardian

Children will become eligible for a place the term following their second birthday.
