Plans to mark ‘Holy Week’ revealed

Brechin Churches Together is preparing to mark one of the most celebrated weeks on the Christian calendar, ‘Holy Week’.

To commemorate this very special week, Brechin Churches Together will host a variety of services and event for the community across the local area.

The week starts on Palm Sunday, this year March 29, where each of the local churches will hold their own services.

On Tuesday, March 31, at 7 p.m., Baptist Fellowship invites you to join them for an evening of songs and remembering Christ’s teachings.

n Wednesday, April 1, also at 7 p.m., St. Andrew’s Church invites you to join them for their Holy Week service.

‘Holy Thursday, or ‘Maundy Thursday’, will take place on April 2, and there will be services at St. Ninian’s, Stracathro, Farnell and St. Andrew’s Church.

Times for these services along with other weekly services are posted on the Brechin Churches Together Holy Week Posters around town.

On ‘Good Friday’, April 3, Brechin Churches Together will be doing a ‘Walk of Witness’. You are invited to join them at St. Andrew’s Church at 10 am, as they walk different church sites reading and singing their way to the Brechin Cathedral where they will end with a time of fellowship, along with Hot Cross Buns and tea or coffee.

Once again in the evening there are several different services to choose from, please check the posters for more information.

Easter Sunday, on April 5, starts with a Dawn Easter Praise at Edzell castle at 7 a.m., continues from there for a breakfast and communion fellowship at the Edzell Church. You can follow this with a service from your choice of church.

Residents are then invited to end the day with an evening of Praise and Poetry, starting at 6 p.m. at Brechin Cathedral.
