Angus Council is looking to recognise the county’s top sporting stars at the 19th annual Angus Sports Award.
Athletes, players, coaches, friends and family are encouraged to submit nominations now, for consideration by the selection panel.
Nominations can be made online at www.angus.gov.uk/leisure and forms are also available from all Angus Council leisure facilities, ACCESS offices, libraries and museums.
The awards, which will be held at the Reid Hall in Forfar on March 12, are organised and run by the council’s sports development team to honour commitment, achievements and dedication.
The Angus Sports Awards 2014 are presented in association with Angus Ahead, the county’s marketing campaign set up to fly the flag for the county at home and abroad. Radio Tay is once more showing its support by hosting and broadcasting the awards ceremony.
Commenting on the awards the council’s vice-convener for Communities, Councillor Jeanette Gaul said: “We want as many people as possible to provide nominations for the Angus Sports Awards so that we can celebrate the achievements of local sports people, coaches, administrators and volunteers across Angus.
She added: “Our sports men and women deserve to be recognised and rewarded and we look forward to another fantastic awards ceremony in March.”
There are eight categories in total, including Sports Personality of the Year (sponsored by Auchterhouse Country Sports), Service to Sport Award (sponsored by Dundee & Angus College) and Coach of the Year (sponsored by KLM Partnership Chartered Surveyors).
Completed nominations should be returned to Angus Council Sports Development Team, The Yard, Queenswell Road, Forfar, DD8 3JA by 10 a.m. on Monday. February 9.
