BRECHIN residents have expressed their concerns over speeding on roads throughout the area.
Janet Cowan, Lib Dem candidate for Brechin and Edzell, has responded with assurances that something can be done to alleviate the situation. She said: “It is clear that enforcement of the speed limits is the real key but our hard pressed police cannot be everywhere and therefore, catch everyone who speeds.
“However, it has been suggested to me that the vehicle actuated or flashing signs slow traffic down as they are a reminder to our drivers on the need to slow down and I have seen for myself that these signs do work in practice.
“I know that Angus Council do have a very limited number of these signs which they rotate across the whole of Angus.
“The budget which was recently passed by the council allocated an extra £40,000 for more of these signs. This will mean that not only will they be able to add more sites to the rota but also allow more frequent rotation of the sites and this should help to have an affect on speeding.
“This is in my view is good news for the Brechin and Edzell ward, good for safety and might help to avoid an accident”
