North East MSP Alex Johnstone has been unveiled as the Scottish Conservative’s candidate for Angus North and Mearns for next year’s Scottish Parliament elections.

Alex said his two main policy themes would continue to be ‘The Union’ – keeping Scotland a strong part of the UK and controlling centralisation. He asked for the support of the Associations’ members to work with him in his campaign. Alex thanked members for adopting him at the General Meeting and said he was looking forward to representing Angus and the North East again in 2016.

The decision was made at a selection meeting at the Northern Hotel which was attended by Stephen Rickman (Angus Conservative and Unionist Association chairman), John Duncan (West Aberdeen and Kincardineshire Association chairman) and Councillor George Carr (North of Scotland Regional Convenor.)
