Council backing for Commando charity

Monikie Country Park will be the venue for Commando Kids 2012, a Commando-themed, fun-fllled day of outdoor activity on June 24, organised by the Commando 999 charity to raise funds in aid of the Royal Marines Association.

Organised by The Royal Marines, Tayside Police and Angus Council ranger service, the event will create challenges involving assault courses, climbing, canoeing and observation posts for teams of young people. There will be other events on the day including a barbecue, military bands and bouncy castles.

Convener of Angus Council Neighbourhood Services, Councillor Donald Morrison said: “I am delighted that Monikie Country Park will be the north east of Scotland venue for this great day. The Commando Kids event will give enjoyment and entertainment to the participants and visitors as well as raising money for the benefit and welfare of Royal Marines Commandoes who currently serve, or have served, with any of the UK emergency services.”

The committee agreed at a recent meeting to approve the collaboration for the fundraising event.
