Angus Council has rethought plans to reduce the number of play parks in the Brechin area, which could have seen the number of parks reduced from 11 to just four.
The council has now gone back to the drawing board and will discuss new proposals, tomorrow (Thursday), that would see eight parks being retained in the area, leaving three either getting no investment or scheduled to be removed.
If the proposals are agreed, parks at Brechin’s Cookston Crescent and Mountskip will have no investment put into them and Edzell’s Trim Trail will be removed. Consultations also highlighted the need for a park in the north-west of Brechin, which could be addressed during the construction of the new Brechin Community Campus.
Three playsparks in the Brechin and Edzell ward - Tarfside, Edzell Muir, Hillside - are currently leased by Angus Council and will be assessed to consider their value for the money.
The proposed review of leases will examine each lease on an individual basis by reviewing the remaining term of lease, the value for money provided, the benefit to the community and the ability of the local community to provide locally managed services.
