Digital Angus event planned for January

Community organisations in Angus are being encouraged to sign up to Digital Angus, a one-day social media event.

Angus Council is working in partnership with Third Sector Lab to deliver a workshop to provide groups with the skills they need to make social media work for them.

Topics covered include Social media strategy for people new to digital communications; developing a social media policy and guidelines to protect and empower staff and volunteers; community engagement using audio and visual tools; using social media to make events and training a success; effective use of Twitter and Facebook for third sector organisations.

The event promises to be an exciting interactive day with inspirational speakers, including Kenny McDonald, the Scottish Government’s corporate communications manager; Jennifer M Jones, project co-ordinator, Digital Commonwealth Project; Richard Rooney; online editor of The Courier; Debbie Fellows, associate (Employment Law), Thorntons Law LLP; Peggy Hughes, Literary Dundee; Derek Harper – BRAVO Brechin.

The event will be held on Saturday, January 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Angus House, Orchardbank, Forfar. The cost is £25 per participant. Further details are available by e-mailing or telephone 01307 476341.
