Angus Council has revealed that the flood protection works within the southern reaches of Wishop Burn in Edzell is progressing well.
The project is scheduled for completion by November.
The works consist of the construction of an upsized culvert, which will run under Dunlappie Road, and a timber flood wall to prevent increased flows impacting properties to the east of the burn.
The aim of the project at Dunlappie Road is to reduce flood risk in the area.
To manage flood risk to the upper parts of Edzell, Angus Council has installed a water level gauge. This will allow remote monitoring of water levels and will trigger automatic alarms at pre-set levels.
This measure will enable the local community and Angus Council to co-ordinate the response to any flood event.
The flood protection works comes after numerous areas in the village were flooded following heavy rain in December 2012. More than 40 homes were affected causing an estimated £1 million of damage.
