The Electoral Registration Officer for Angus is reminding residents who haven’t returned their electoral registrations forms to do so.
Alastair Kirkwood has revealed that reminders are due to be sent to residents who have yet to return their form, which also includes a Young Person’s Registration form to allow 15 year olds who will reach 16 years of age, on or before September 18, 2014, to register to vote at next year’s Scottish Independence Referendum.
Electors do no have to return the Young Person’s registration form if there is no-one within the household who meets the criteria.
Mr Kirkwood said: “Forms were issues to all household at the beginning of October and just over 62 per cent have responded so far.
“Registering to vote is quick and simple. All you have to do is update the electoral register form or forms with details of everyone who lives in the household and is eligible to vote; and return it to us in the prepaid envelope as soon as possible.”
He added: “This is the last annual canvass before the European parliament election on May 22, 2014, and the Scottish Independence Referendum on September 18, 2014, there fore you should returned your forms to ensure you are eligible to vote.
“Door-to-door visits will be carried out from December 2 to January 31, 2014, when canvassers will call at addresses where no form has been returned.”
