Angus Council has approved the second phase of the Survive and Thrive initiative at a meeting held on September 26.

The initiative started in 2010 to support the local business sector by stimulating construction activity while helping to build more affordable housing.

The second phase will centre on supporting local businesses and will also focus on securing land for the future development of affordable housing; increasing the number of employment and training opportunities; ring-fence funding to help build specialist housing to meet the needs of forces veterans.

Convener of neighbourhood services, councillor Donald Morrison said: “I’m pleased to see that the next phase will also focus on employment and training opportunities which will further benefit Angus residents and local businesses.”
