Angus residents are being reminded that changes to the current Department of Work and Pensions Social Fund scheme have now come into effect.
The Crisis Loans and Community Care Grants have been replaced by a new scheme called the Scottish Welfare Fund.
This new fund is mainly for people on benefits and will be delivered for Angus residents by Angus Council.
The Scottish Welfare Fund will provide two types of grant - Crisis Grants and Community Care Grants
A Crisis Grant is to help someone if they are in crisis after a disaster or emergency. It can also help with costs that arise due to a disaster or emergency to keep them and their family safe from harm.
A Community Care Grant is to help a person with things they need to live independently in the community either when they are leaving care or to prevent them having to live in care. It can also help if they are struggling to provide a safe and secure home for their family.
