Just after 4.30 a.m. today (Friday) it was announced that Angus was firmly in the No Camp.
Of the 80,300 voters at the Angus polls today, a turnout of 85.7 per cent, a total of 35,044 voted Yes versus 45,192 who voted No.
That was a difference of around 12 per cent, a significant result for the No Campaign in an area traditionally considered something of an SNP stronghold.
Angus appears to have been in line with the overall Scottish result which just a few minutes ago (approximately 6.20 a.m.) was declared a win for the No Campaign and an admission of defeat by First Minister Alex Salmond.
