Brechin’s Hallowe’en in the city Cartie race proved to be popular with local people, despite the wet weather on the day.
City of Brechin and District Community Council convenor Grahame Lockhart has received a number of comments from local people who have expressed how much they enjoyed the race which took place on October 19.
Grahame said: “It was greatly encouraging to hear that so many people had a really good day out at the latest event by BRAVO Brechin in the form of the Hallowe’en Cartie Race.
“A significant increase in the number of carties and racers meant there was a lot to see.
“At one point the whole of the High Street was lined on both sides with spectators who cheered the racers on.
“I believe the fire engine cartie was a great favourite particularly amongst the younger children.”
Much of the praise is aimed at those who helped set up the event.
“Everyone involved in putting on the event from setting it up on the Friday to the massive clear-up on Saturday evening deserves a huge vote of thanks,” continued Grahame.
“I feel privileged to live in a city which has so many people volunteering for the good of all.
“I hope that the community will continue to support BRAVO’s efforts when the Christmas in the City event is held on November 30.”
The next meeting of the City of Brechin and District Community Council will be on Tuesday, November 5, at 7.30 p.m. in the Parish Council Chambers in Panmure Street before they have a break in December.
There will be a further update of Showcase Brechin 2020 and discussions on how to proceed with the information gathered.
Also on the meeting agenda will be some discussion about Angus Council’s decision to postpone the next elections for local community councils until 2015.
