The Caledonian Railway has been “overwhelmed” by messages of support and donations from the local community in the wake of a fire that caused up to £25,000 of damage.
The Railway, which is run by volunteers, had their 1940s LMS brakevan destroyed by a fire on April 6, but an online fundraising page has seen them raise £2500 since it launched on April 8. Their target is £5000, so they have already reached their half way point.
In a post on their Facebook page, the railway were thankful for the support, commenting: “We’re just overwhelmed with all of your kind messages and the donations to the ‘Rebuild the Brechin Brakevan’ justgiving page.
“We’re thankful to everyone who’s taken the time to comment, message, donate and offer help. There are a lot of good people out there!”
Donations to the page can given online at Rebuild the Brechin Brakevan page.
