Refunds will be issued to all those who purchased tickets for the Festival of House event, after news broke late last week that it had been cancelled.
Organisers confirmed the decision to pull the plug on the event, after the Guide and Gazette had already gone to print.
While they disputed that the event would not be safe, Craig Blyth, director of Festival of House said in a statement: “The gap between all parties in terms of key plans is such that it is incapable of resolution in the time left before the event.”
Mr Blyth thanked those who supported the festival, including residents, local businesses and fans. The statement added: “We would like to express our disappointment to the thousands of fans who have bought tickets for the festival and offer them our sincere apologies.”
The announcement attracted much attention on social media, with the post revealing the decision to cancel attracting over 460 comments, and being shared over 100 times. Organisers have proposed a formal debriefing to Angus Council, presenting an opportunity to look forward to planning another event timeously for next year. Refunds will be processed by Skiddle, and any further queries should be directed to email@example.com.
