The art gallery in The Pavilion @ Stracathro cafe in the grounds of Stracathro Hospital is hosting a new art exhibition.

A range of paintings by artist and former sonographer Lynda Marshall are on display until the end of August.

Lynda said: “I have always been interested in art but only took up painting in later life as a means of relaxation.

“My inspiration generally comes from sky effects and sunsets, usually painting pastel seascapes. One of my favourite locations is Lunan Bay but I also visit the West Coast and the Highland and Islands.”

Lynda, who was a consultant sonographer and radiography manager at Stracathro Hospital until her retirement in 2012, has exhibited across Tayside and Edinburgh.

She is a member of several arts societies and was president of Monifieth Art Society between 2005 and 2012.

Lynda added: “It is an honour and a privilege to have my works displayed here in Stracathro, particularly as I worked here for so many years and it holds many memories”

The cafe is open Monday to Friday from 8am until 4pm.

Exhibitions at the cafe are changed approximately every eight weeks and local artists are invited to display work.

The majority of the art on display is for sale, with each participating artist donating 20% commission of sales to Stracathro Hospital. All money raised is used to enhance the Stracathro Hospital environment for patients and visitors.
