The school has appointed a new Principal Teacher of Mathematics, Mr Ally Mills, who is currently teaching at Braeview Academy in Dundee. He will be joining the staff before the end of this session.
HMIe visit
As part of the planned Follow Through process, the HMIe Inspectors visited the school on Wednesday, April 19 and Thursday, April 20 to assess the progress made since the Inspection report was published in June 2005.
They spoke to groups of staff and pupils to gather evidence. They were pleased at the progress that has been made to improve the school. A report will be published in due course which will be posted to parents and available on the HMIe website.

Tesco Computers for Schools Vouchers.
Brechin High School will, once again, be collecting Computers for Schools vouchers.
Tesco started issuing these on Monday, March 6 and a collection box has been placed in the LRC.
This year extra vouchers can be earned by recycling old mobile phones (working and non-working) and inkjet cartridges. The target this year is a new PC and for this the school requires approx. 22,000 vouchers. Your help and support is very much appreciated.
Parental Involvement
The Brechin Schools held a very successful information evening on Thursday, April 20, in Brechin High School.
The event was organised by a group of parents from local schools and was attended by over eighty parents. One member of the parent group, Jan Mimiec, introduced the evening and set the scene.
A group of professional actors presented a number of scenarios to highlight some of the issues which parents have in relation to education.
The rest of the evening consisted of a number of workshops covering a range of different topics, including: Assessing your child's progress, Educational Psychology, School and Family Support, ICT Grid Club, Improving Learning and Investment in Excellence. The parents are to be congratulated on an excellent evening. The organisers will now be turning their thoughts to future events. Watch this space!
