A road in Edzell was closed for approximately two hours on Wednesday, March 16 after an Angus Council recycling lorry malfunctioned.
The lorry, which was on Manse Road at the time, was collecting green garden waste for recycling when an error occurred which resulted in much of its contents being disgorged onto the road, resulting in the road being blocked whilst the refuge lorry was moved and a team came to remove the debris.
A spokesperson for Angus Council said: “An electrical fault occurred in the refuse collection vehicle, which was switched off.
“Mechanics attended the vehicle and repaired the problem on site.
“It was necessary to move the plate inside the vehicle forward, and while doing this, efforts were made to ensure that as little garden waste as possible fell out.
“However, some garden waste did escape, but this was picked up as soon as possible by the refuse team’s sweep vehicle, with assistance from colleagues in grounds maintenance.”
