Brechin’s veteran rugby team, Brechin BRUCE, helped use their recent invitational match to help raise money for charity.
The side, along with the four teams from Stonehaven, Cupar, Kirkcaldy and Edinburgh, raised over £200 to donate a local Brechin boy, and Brechin Junior Rugby Club member, Oscar Waddell’s fund raiser for The Little Princess Trust.
The money was raised during the social event held after the matches at the Nova Suite.
Oscar, who has just turned six, has set himself a target of over £350. However, he isn’t just raising cash for the charity, which makes wigs for children with cancer, he is also planning to donate his hair as well.
Oscar said: “I have to tie it back now as it gets in the way at school and when I swim or play football or rugby and some boys have started teasing me calling me a girl. It’s not easy being called names but it is better than being sick.”
A spokesperson for Brechin Rugby Club said: “Brechin BRUCE and Brechin Junior Rugby Club are immensely proud of Oscar and are happy to help in some small way. If anyone else would like to help you can donate to the charity directly through Oscars Page on www.justgiving.com/oscars-wig-donation”
