The local Scouts have issued a thank you to the people of Brechin after another successful Christmas card delivery service.
The Scout Group run the fund-raising delivery service every year, and for this Christmas, they charged 20p per card for delivery in the town area.
The support from the local community has seen the Scouts raise well over £4,000.
Elizabeth Kidd, chairman, and Dorothy Black, treasurer, commented: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for supporting the Brechin Scout Group’s Christmas Card Delivery Service.
“Special thanks to all the shops (Co-operative on Trinity Road, Dennis’s, Hendry’s, Lidl, Newsplus and St Ninian’s Square Newsagents) which allowed us to use their premises for the collection bins, the ‘Posties’, the many parents and friends who helped sort and especially to the people of Brechin who once again supported this fund raising event wholeheartedly.
“Special mention also goes to Ron (Sanpado) for transporting the cards from the shops to the Scout Hall ready for sorting.”
The pair added: “We appreciate how difficult the financial situation is for everyone in the town and are therefore absolutely delighted that the sum of £4,477 has been raised for the Group.
“This sum ensures that we can continue to provide for the activities of the Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts and Scouts section as well as the upkeep and maintenance of the Scout Hall.”
There is just one card left undelivered, and the group are appealing to the recipients, or sender, to claim it. They said: “The card is for a Mr and Mrs W Milne, 20 Latch Road from Maureen Gordon. If this card is for you or from you, please contact Liz on 01356 624210.”
