The management of the Mechanics’ Institute are delighted to announce that they are hosting an exhibition of local art, “Art @ the Mechanics’”, on Saturday and Sunday, September 3 and 4 with a preview on Friday, September 2.
The exhibition is being supported by the Brechin Photographic Society, which is holding an exhibition of work in the Guildry Room.
There was also be an opportunity to learn about and appreciate the talents of our local arts and crafts ladies who are exhibiting in the Jenner Room.
As this is a real community effort, the organisers are inviting everyone to pop along.
They are very excited to be hosting a “live” artist, Don Anderson, throughout the day on Saturday.
They are asking others to pop along and see how it’s done and pick up a few tips to enhance their own abilities.
The exhibition is in response to the number of local artists looking to promote their work and also the desire of the people of Angus to support these artists and to view their own work.
The numbers of artists and crafts people of many skills can be seen by the Angus Open Studios information and that of their counterparts in North East, Perthshire and Fife.
Many people have fond memories of exhibitions held in Brechin in the past which brought people into town. The Mechanics’ Institute is a great venue for exhibitions and the management would welcome the opportunity to hold regular events.
The institute is now online at www.brechinmechanicsinstitute.org and their “events alert” page will keep you up to date with what is happening at the Mechanics’.
