The Dalhousie Centre’s Good as New shop in St David Street is in line to receive a face lift later this
The store will close temporarily on Saturday, May 16, to allow for a major refit.
The proceeds from the shop go to the centre to be spent locally on supporting older people in Brechin and the surrounding area to help them keep their independence and remain in their own homes as long as possible.
The Board of Brechin Day Care Ltd, trading as The Dalhousie Centre, agreed to invest in a significant refurbishment to update the shop and improve its profile within the community.
Betty Hendry and her hardworking volunteers, assisted by Janet Penman, secretary of the Board and a team of her volunteers, will empty the entire stock before work can commence.
A team of local tradesmen and volunteers will start work to complete the refitting over the following week. Then, once the painters have finished, the re-stock will commence.
Janet commented: “We’ve set ourselves an ambitious target to get all this work done during May and hope we can re-open by the 30th. Details of progress and of the grand opening in June will follow in the coming weeks.
“Betty and her team of volunteers have given many years of service to this community and we hope that the improvements will make life easier for them.”
Betty added: “There will be special promotions in the shop from now till May 15, so please come in and see what’s on offer. It will also give you the chance to do a comparison before and after the refit.’’
“All of our volunteers have dedicated many years to support our local community and we encourage you to help us continue.”
