Showcasing the future of Brechin

The City of Brechin and District Community Council’s ‘Showcase a visions for Brechin’ for 2020 will open in the Parish Council Chambers on October 7.

For four weeks in October the community council will take up residence in the former Registrar’s office in Panmure Street with doors opening during the first week from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 7, to Friday, October 11, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 12.

Further opening hours will be listed at the end of the first week.

It is believed local people will want to comment on the following issues:

Overview of Brechin at present; Brechin community campus; flood prevention scheme; the future of leisure centre, Damacre Centre, City Hall, Brechin library; return of the Pageant; and Bravo Brechin events - Halloween in The City and Christmas in The City.

Full details and showcase dates will be published soon and a weekly report will be published in the local press as this project proceeds to inform you and encourage you to have your say too.

Community council convener Grahame Lockhart commented: “The City of Brechin and District Community Council would really like to see members of the local community of all ages participate in this project.

“We need to hear what‘s important to you and to the future you imagine for yourselves and your families.

“We won’t mange to change anything overnight, but if we plan and work together for the future there is more chance of us seeing the vision become a reality.

“There are many very dedicated members of our community who already do a lot for the city; this is the opportunity for anyone else, not associated with any particular group, to join in and help form our vision for 2020 and beyond.”
