Members from the Edzell Church Mission Group have thanked the people who supported their Soup Kitchen held last week.
The event, which took place on Friday, October 19, outside the Tweedie on the High Street, saw volunteers from the group serve hot food, tray bakes and tea and coffee to members of the public for free.
Despite the terribly wet weather, the event was well supported with 40 people attending.
Speaking after the event, Bridget Gilles, from the group, commented: “We would like to say a big thank you to the 40 people who braved the pouring rain to share mince and tatties at the soup kitchen outside the Tweedie in Edzell.
“The event was organised to raise awareness and funds for Graham’s Kitchen which operates in Dundee each Saturday night and provides a hot meal on the street for those in need.
“Generous donations were made and the final amount raised was £200.”
Volunteers from Edzell Church have travelled down to Dundee every Saturday to help at this busy soup kitchen for the past two years.
There, they provide a hot meal, tray bake, fruit and hot drinks for up to 40 people every Saturday.
