A Swedish delegation of civic leaders, chief executives and council officers is in Angus today (Thursday).
The delegation will get to see the best the county has to offer in tourism, farming, food and heritage.
A party of officials from the Västmanland Association of Local Authorities and County Council (known as VKL) gathered at Angus Council’s headquarters in Forfar before embarking on a tour of Angus.
The packed itinerary includes visits to businesses and attractions in Glamis, Edzell, Brechin, Arbroath and Forfar, sampling the famed Arbroath Smokie and locally produced vodka. It concludes with dinner at Forbes of Kingennie.
Council Leader Iain Gaul said: “Our guests are most welcome. Their visit provides us all with an excellent opportunity to share a wealth of experience and expertise in economic and business development.
“Our officers have been in discussion with municipalities in this region of Sweden and with VKL staff with a view to potential collaboration, especially in relation to economic development and European programmes in the context of Angus Council’s international framework.
“It’s possible that a formal collaboration can be developed in support of the burgeoning activities and businesses in heritage, tourism, food and farming here in Angus.”
