The importance of having a Power of Attorney will be highlighted in a series of adverts which will be shown on television across Tayside.
The campaign is a partnership between a number of Health and Social Care Partnerships in Scotland and aims to encourage people to talk to trusted family and friends about establishing a Power of Attorney (POA).
Since the campaign began in 2014 there has been a steady rise in the number of Tayside POAs registered with the Office of Public Guardian in Scotland.
A Power of Attorney is a written legal document giving someone authority to take actions or make decisions on behalf of someone else who chooses what powers they have. It is intended to ensure that financial affairs and personal welfare can still be dealt with and protected if someone is unable to act on their own behalf.
The campaign’s website, www.mypowerofattorney.org.uk, provides valuable help and information including costs involved in setting up a POA and how to check if you are eligible for Legal Aid.
