There’s still time to have your say on City Hall

People in Brechin wishing to make their views on the City Hall known, still have time to complete a questionnaire on the issue.

The committee behind the questionnaire have revealed some of the responses they have already received on the issues.

Question seven of the questionnaire asks residents: “Do you think Brechin should retain the City Hall? If yes, please state why.”

It prompted such responses such as: “Anyone who has to ask ‘why?’ should not be on the council or have anything to do with goings on in Brechin.”

Another respondent added: “Every Angus town has a hall, why should Brechin be without?”

Someone else said: “to get rid of it would be vandalism.”

That is just a small selection of the opinions received to date but there is still time for those of you who either received questionnaires at the panto, from the shops involved or by the kind help of the local Scouts’ deliveries over Christmas. The small committee compiling the results would like to have even more opinions.

One encouraging sign is that a third of those replying have indicated that they are prepared to help.

It is hoped that, following the final results and depending on the availability of a suitable – and affordable – venue, a meeting of those interested will be called to discuss further action.

Your completed forms can be handed in to one of the following shops – Brymers Butchers, Blacks of Brechin, Sweets and Treats, Brechin Arms, Rosie’s Café, Sanpado Florists or by hand or by post to Ron Stewart, 3 Chanonry Wynd, Brechin.

To date, 96 per cent of returns have agreed that the hall should be retained, with its central situation being one of the main reasons for saying so.
