Thought of the week

One big truth in life is that things change. But sometimes those changes we chose to make are not always for the best. But in reality there are some things that don’t change and really shouldn’t change.

As we go out at night and watch the stars and the other heavenly bodies we see they change from hour to hour but the reality is we don’t see them change they only change position.

I remember as a teen watching the sky seem to turn about the ‘Pole Star’ throughout the night and even one time taking a camera and letting it take a time delay picture of several hours and only the one star seemed to stay put, the others looked like streaks.

In our lives God says He is that un-moving one. Malachi 3:6 simply says “I am the Lord I change not”

Another thing that is not good to change is truth. If we change truth that we tell, either the original story or the new one are false. In many cases we would even say to the person that has changed their story that they are a liar.

I know that sometimes our perception of what happens around us is some days skewed and we don’t get the story quite right, but there are also those times that a person intentionally tells the story in a way that does not tell the truth.

Truth is always true so some days we have to study or do research to make sure the truth we tell is the truth.

Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father but by me.” Thankfully He, as truth, doesn’t change. The writer of Hebrews in 13:8 says “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” What Jesus said almost 2000 years ago is as true for us now as it was for His disciples then.

I leave you with the words of Charles Kingsley as he said: “Do you feel that you have lost your way in life? Then God Himself will show you your way. Are you utterly helpless, worn out, body and soul? Then God’s eternal love is ready and willing to help you up, and revive you. Are you wearied with doubts and terrors? Then God’s eternal light is ready to show you your way; God’s eternal peace ready to give you peace. Do you feel yourself full of sins and faults? Then take heart; for God’s unchangeable will is to take away those sins and purge you from those faults.”

Where you are in life, good bad or indifferent, there is truth to make your life even better.
