A group of enthusiastic locals have raised over £1,600 for charity after taking part in a gruelling obstacle course.

Jodi Scott, Darren Scott, Gemma Keith, Donna Taylor, Sadie Watson, Mairi McKenzie, Sharon Pace and Cassie Davie all signed up to take part in the Tough Mudder Scotland 2014 challenge, which was held in Dalkeith Country Park.

The Tough Mudder event describes itself as a “hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle course designed by Special Forces to test your all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie.”

Many participants in the event use it as fund raising opportunity, and the Brechin group were no different.

They took to the course to fund raise on behalf of the Angus Cancer Care Centre, which is based at Stracathro Hospital. Their grand total came to an impressive £1,635.60.

Six members of the Tough Mudder team - Jodi Scott, Gemma Keith, Darren Scott, Mairi McKenzie, Sharon Pace and Cassie Davie- attended Stracathro Hospital last week to present the cheque to staff.
