The A90 at Stracathro was closed in both directions until just after 3pm today (Friday) after a road traffic collision in the early hours of the morning.
Diversions were in place for both the north and south bound carriages as police carried out investigations in to the crash, which occurred near Stracathro at around 2.25am.
Those travelling between Aberdeen and Dundee in both directions were asked not to use the main dual carriageway between the cities and instead divert via the A92, which passes through towns including Carnoustie, Arbroath, Montrose and Stonehaven.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police can confirm that sadly a man has died following a road traffic collision at Stracathro on the A90.
“No further details are available until next of kin have been informed.”
