As enquiries continue into a fatal road traffic collision on the outskirts of Brechin last night (Wednesday, October 5), Tayside Police is appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident to contact them.
A 25-year-old man from Montrose was fatally injured in the collision, which happened at about 8.40 pm on A935, near to Brechin Castle Centre.
Next of kin have been informed but the deceased has not been formally identified at this time.
He had been riding south from Brechin on an orange KTM motorcycle, along with three other motorcyclists who were riding a black and dark blue Honda, a blue Aprilia and a blue Yamaha motorbike.
It is understood that the KTM and Honda bikes collided, resulting in their riders being thrown from their motorcycles. The deceased then collided with a white Vauxhall Astra car.
Emergency services attended at the scene, but despite their best efforts the 25-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The other unseated rider, an 18-year-old, suffered minor bumps and bruises and was treated at the scene. No one else was injured in the incident.
The road was closed until about 4.45 am while crash investigators carried out detailed examination at the scene.
Tayside Police would appeal to anyone who was in the Brechin area last night and who saw a group of motorcyclists in the area to contact them as they may have information that could assist the investigation.
Anyone with information should call 0300 111 2222, or speak to any officer.
