Many tributes have been paid to Mr Tommy Gilmartin, for many years Brechin City’s physiotherapist, who has died at the age of 66.
Mr Gilmartin, who passed away in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary a week ago, had worked at Stracathro Hospital, and was able to use the skills gained there to the benefit of the club and its players.
He was a very popular member of the backroom staff, and was well-known in the wider footballing community; Mr Gilmartin also conducted physiotherapy clinics for members of the public.
The chairman of the Glebe Park side, Mr Ken Ferguson said: “Tommy was a true gentleman with time and knowledge to spare for everyone.
“Our condolences go to Tommy’s wife, June, sons David Mark and Douglas, and to the extended family.
“Tommy - and his father before him - gave outstanding service to Brechin City FC for over 30 years, and to the wider community as a whole through his unique knowledge of sports-related injuries and general appetite for life.”
