The City of Brechin and District Community Council can now confirm that two guest speakers will address interested members of the community at the seminar on Transition Towns to be held in St Andrew’s Church Hall on Saturday, February 9 from 9.30 a.m., to 12.30 p.m.
Eva Schoneveld from Transition Scotland will address the national perspective and give examples of how some communities are already making improvements in their environment.
Sandra Davidson of Transition Mearns (TraM) will highlight various projects closer to our area. Both will respond to any questions.
Refreshments will be available and there will be ample opportunities for discussion about how this might be taken forward in Brechin.
Convener Grahame Lockhart commented: “This is an idea which is taking off the length and breadth of the country. As a rural community we have the opportunity to explore how we may strengthen our local area by supporting local enterprises and producers.
“There is also a wish to investigate whether it is possible to set up a group to explore the viability of community enterprise to help reduce energy costs.
“We have arranged this event at the weekend in the hope of attracting a good attendance and I would encourage as many members of our community as possible to attend.
“This is one example of The City of Brechin and District Community Council working within our own community to try to improve our local environment.”
