Volunteers needed to help EVIS with events

A number of activities have been organised by the Edzell Village Improvement Society for the coming months.

The 2011 events will be kicked off with a race night on Friday, March 25 in the Panmure Arms Hotel.

Everyone is welcome to come along even if you’re a racing novice.

There will also be some prizes for unlucky losers.

Helpers are wanted to help clean up the BMX track on Edzell Muir on Sunday, March 27.

Currently the BMX track is overgrown with bushed and shrubs in places so people are encouraged to bring along some secateurs or tree pruners and some gloves and help to clear the track.

If you are a young BMX’er coming to help then bring a grown up with you.

The clear-up starts at 12 noon, with people encouraged to come along at anytime. Just remember to put your clocks forward to summer-time on Saturday night.

As gala day approaches and with the threat of closure over Noranside prison, EVIS may be short-handed for help to set-up on gala day on Saturday, August 6.

In recent years EVIS has had the help of six volunteers from Nornside who have come out and helped on the day. If the prison closes then EVIS will be seriously short of volunteers resulting in EVIS needing volunteers to come forward.

If you can help with setting up on the Muir for gala day then contact EVIS.
