A local community nurse is warming up to take part in one of the most exciting fundraising events in aid of health and social care charity Sue Ryder.
The charity runs a homecare service in Arbroath which reaches out to different locations, including Brechin.
Amanda Innes is part of a team of community nurses who assist and provide care for people in their own home and she is encouraging people to join her and sign up to take part in a night hike that will see hundreds of people walking together under the stars.
The Starlight Hike in aid of Sue Ryder will wind through the grounds of Glamis Castle on Saturday, September 1 under the stars. Participants will enjoy a fun warm up before the countdown to start the 10k sponsored walk. At the finish line, all walkers will receive goodies and a well earned breakfast.
Amanda said: “I am going to take part in the event with my mum, who also works as a nurse, and I persuaded some of my colleagues to join me on the night. It’s a nice way to spend a Saturday night together and I am thrilled at the idea of walking on the grounds of Glamis Castle under the stars. I am sure it will be a night to remember.
“At the same time I know I am supporting a great charity. I know first hand what it means when someone you love falls ill and all you want is to ensure they receive the best possible care. Sue Ryder does exactly that as well as supporting the whole family. It’s going to be an exciting adventure to walk around Glamis Castle and I hope to see hundreds of people getting involved”.
Sara Novara at Sue Ryder said: “We would love to see as many as 1,000 people taking part in the event at Glamis Castle and we are hoping to raise over £100,000 for the charity. The event is open to women, children and men”.
On the night people will also receive a goody bag, a T-shirt and refreshments afterwards.
