WEBSTER'S HIGH SCHOOL NOTES, MARCH 18,2010

Ski trip to Italy 2010: Webster's High School has undertaken yet another annual ski trip for its pupils and this time they visited Italy.

The trip, consisting of 70 pupils and 10 adults (not all school staff), left Kirriemuir for a 26 hour coach and ferry journey to Courmauyeur, in the Aosta Valley, Italy.

The skiers stayed in a three star hotel for a full week and there were lessons for all abilities. The participants also competed in an awards scheme where they earned badges for their efforts. There was evening entertainment every night for those on the trip such as swimming, karaoke and a disco.

The trip left the ski resort last Saturday and arrived back in Kirriemuir on Sunday. Webster's is pleased to say that all of the pupils returned home safe and sound from Italy, albeit somewhat exhausted after a week of skiing. The expedition to Courmauyeur was really enjoyed by all the participants and provided pupils and staff with improved skiing abilities. Hopefully, the ski trip will run again next year with as much success.

Learning for Life: All S4 and S5 pupils have been taking part in a motivational course provided by the Learning for Life organisation. It is designed to help pupils fulfil their potential, to be ambitious but to cope with setbacks in life and to prepare thoroughly for their forthcoming SQA exams. Feedback has been very positive.

Cross-Country Championships: The school championships took place at Monikie Park and 140 pupils took part. The weather was kind and some fine performances were produced at all age levels. Ailsa Peters, meanwhile, took part in the Scottish championships and came a very creditable eighth. Well done to her.
