WEBSTER'S SHOOL NOTES, APRIL 8, 2010

Sports Relief: The Prince's Trust group at Webster's raised funds for Sports Relief this week by organising an inter-house "It's a Knock-Out" competition on Thursday, April 1, and a "Dress as you Please" day on Friday, April 2.

For S1s and S2s, the inter-house competition entailed completing a "Wobstacle" course in the Webster's sports centre's pool.

S3 to S6 competitors competed in a game of dodge-ball. There were also other events which could be entered by any year group.

These were: table football, dodge-ball, sumo wrestling, spider's web (where bungee ropes were tied together to form a web which teams had to push their way through) as well as a field gun challenge (where pupils had to disassemble a big gun, complete a course and then reassemble the gun at the other side).

Moy and Clova won the competition.

The "Dress as you Please" day had a difference. Pupils were asked to wear something red or pink (Sports Relief colours) to raise money for Sports Relief. Those who complied with this request only paid 1 while those who did not wear something red or pink were charged an extra 50p.

Ewen Matthew also helped to raise 200 for Sports Relief through being sponsored for his "bowl-cut". A total of 929.43 was eventually collected for Sports Relief.

The Prince's Trust group would like to thank all who helped raise money with the "Dress as you Please" day and those who participated in the inter-house "It's a Knock-Out" competition (especially the House Captains).

Easter Service: S4-S6 participated in a brief easter service on Friday. The service was led by the school chaplains Malcolm Rooney and Bob Harley. Andrew Morris played his guitar and Roshin Robertson did a reading.

Mr Rooney took the opportunity to speak about the bus tragedy in Lanark and subsequently the school captains sent a condolence card to the school.

Maths Challenge: The always popular maths challenge took place in the assembly hall immediately after the service. It was another very close run event but finally Moy House ran out as winners.

Easter Revision School: This is running this week from Monday and Thursday and is being very well supported by the exam candidates.
