ANGUS North and Mearns MSP Nigel Don has welcomed news that a number of organisations within the constituency have received awards for the Big Lottery Fund.
Nigel commented: “I am very pleased to see that local organisations have been awarded Big Lottery Funds to expand the good work they are already doing in their communities.
It is very encouraging to see the diversity of activities within the constituency and the wide age range they cover.
“All of their services are greatly valued by those who will benefit from them.”
Brechin Buccaneers Cricket Club has recently received a £4,816 Awards for All grant from SportScotland to improve coaching facilities for young players and introduce activities for five to19 years olds to introduce a development programme from the earliest stages through to adult level competition.
The grant of £4,816 will fund a Flicx coaching pitch, balls, junior team shirts, coaching equipment/game equipment, and delivery costs.
Angus Axis Trampoline Club, based in Forfar, received a £7,500 grant to purchase a range of equipment to allow them to offer trampoline activities to local adults and young children.
The grant will fund two trampolines, two end decks, dividing safety mat, push on safety mat and eight floor mats.
Angus Care and Repair Company, also based in Forfar, received a £3,900 Awards for All grant to hold a Falls Awareness Day, to promote bone health and to educate and inform local older people about how to avoid falls and accidents in the home.
The grant will fund venue hire, catering, transport, leaflets/folders/publicity and hire of exercise floor mats.
