Montrose Folk Club resumes on Thursday, June 5, after a four-week break for the Montrose Music Festival, when the guest will be Yvonne Lyon.
Greenock-based singer/songwriter Yvonne is among the best and brightest of the new talent currently emerging on the UK and Scottish music scenes. She will be appearing at Montrose Folk Club in a duo, accompanied by her husband, David Lyon, on guitar and backing vocals.
Throughout April Yvonne was touring major concert halls in England and Scotland as the supporting performer on the 2014 Eddi Reader Tour.
However, her distinctive vocals and inventive songs are best appreciated in a more intimate venue, such as the Links Hotel.
The new album by Yvonne is entitled ‘These Small Rebellions’. It features songs co-written with Boo Hewerdine, Andrew Howie and David Lyon, plus special guest appearances from Emily Smith, Cara Luft, Steph McLeod and Seonaid Aitken. The album was released to ecstatic reviews from many publications. Yvonne has shared the stage with, among others, Patti Griffin, Karine Polwart and Beth Nielsen Chapman.
Bob Harris of BBC Radio2 is a big fan of Yvonne who has enjoyed the privilege of performing on two live sessions of his show. Everyone who enjoys quality music and songwriting is welcome at Montrose Folk Club on Thursday, June 5 when Yvonne will be on stage at 8 p.m., with the doors at the Links Hotel open at 7.30 p.m.
