MICHAEL O'Neill reflected on a highly successful first quarter of the season with some satisfaction at the weekend.
However, the Brechin City manager warned the rest of the second division:"There is a lot more to come from this team and, with a wee bit of good fortune, we could have been in an even better position and I feel we can get better still."
Michael s
aid: "First of all, I am delighted to gain another valuable three points against an Alloa side that battled all the way and made us work hard throughout.
"We scored three goals which would be looked upon as top quality, whatever level of football you are involved in. Charlie King has taken his two goals superbly well.
"The first was a brilliantly-struck free-kick, which I am delighted with, because I have felt we have not been making enough of our set-peices at times.
The second was a great bit of link-up play and a lovely finish from Charlie. He is a player who has been out of the team, but he took his chance and has strengthened his own position.
"Gary Twigg also scored a tremendous goal and Michael Paton picked him out superbly with a great cross to the far post.
"I think our supporters recognise what a good partnership "Twiggy" and young Michael have put together in a very short period of time. It's simply because both of them are very good players and have a lot to offer the team as a whole.
"I wasn't as pleased with our second half display as I was with our first. However, I thought we were pretty comfortable for most of the game. Alloa had a couple of chances, but Davie White and John Seeley again did well together.
"Davie's been standing in for Darren Smith as our skipper and he takes the job very seriously, so much so, he almost scored his second goal in a week, which might have been a record for him!
"There is a great belief about our squad at present and that is underlined by Neil Janczyk's performances of late.
"Janny has been outstanding for us in the last month or so. His vision, his ability to retain possession and his range of passing is superb. Every week I seem to be telling a different reporter that this guy should be playing at a higher level. But I genuinely believe that.
"I have also just finished telling our guys they have done superbly well in this first quarter.
"However, at the same time, I still feel there is a lot more to come from them. I believe they have more to offer themselves, the coaching staff and our supporters in the coming months.
"We showed against Raith and in flashes against Alloa that we are a good football team and we need to maintain that sort of consistency.
"If I had one request at present, it was that we were more clinical. There are times in games, especially in recent weeks, where we could have had the game killed off earlier. And that's taking nothing away from the lads.
"We will now play two friendly games against Forfar Athletic and against Stenhousemuir, which will give the likes of Gary Fusco, Darren Smith, Calum Smith, Adam Nelson and all the guys who haven't been playing regularly a game.
"These are also good quality players, who, with their match fitness improved upon, will be even more of a threat to those in the team.
"We want to stay at the top of the division and I feel that had we won a couple of the games which we have drawn we would have been in an even better position than we are at present.
"It's a good positive start though and rest assured we will use this next week to ensure the players come back even sharper and raring to go into the next quarter."
Brechin's players will also have a chance of a competitive game of golf this weekend, before the Scotland international, with skipper, Darren Smith having organised a golf outing, which will see all the players taking part in a game that looks just as competitive as the football!
