THE seemingly endless conveyor belt of talent which Brechin City Youths continues to turn out at present reached another milestone this week with Aberdeen Football Club securing the services of another local recruit.
The latest player from the Brechin City Youths production line to become attached to a senior club is nine-year-old Douglas Crowe who has just been offered a place at the prestigious Aberdeen Youth Academy.

The Maisondieu pupil will train in Aberdeen twice a week then travel to play for the SPL's Under 10s team at the weekends.

A spokesman for Brechin City Youths said: "We must be doing something right from a coaching perspective, because we have had approximately 20 or so kids taken on by senior clubs in the last few years.

"There are former BCYFC players at Arbroath, Dundee, Dundee United, Celtic, Rangers and Aberdeen.

"We also have quite a few who have been offered training facilities with a view to being signed.

"This is an exciting time for the club because they are on the brink of gaining the SFA Quality Mark which is the SFA 'S' Kite Mark of excellence in relation to organisation and legislation.

"They already hold the Angus Council ACE Gold Award and have been selected by the SFA to become the template for a "community club" within Angus.

The club has also been offered the opportunity to upgrade its changing rooms at the Matrix.

The club is still always on the lookout for budding footballers so, if interested, contact the club via their website at www.brechincityyouths.co.uk or the club secretary M. McIntosh on 01356 648160.
