Brechin High School S5 pupil Martin Runcie (pictured), a member of Brechin Angling Club, has achieved notable success in a national fly-fishing competition.
Martin qualified in his first attempt at national level and to have gained his Scottish cap is a great personal achievement for Martin and his club.
The Scottish Youth International Fly-Fishing team is made up of sixteen qualifiers who will be travelling across Ireland in August 2012 to compete against the English, Welsh and the Irish teams, with the venue at Lough Owel, near Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.
In the build up to the international event, Martin will participate in a series of training events in the spring to prepare.
Martin will be fund-raising over the forthcoming months to support his participation in the Scottish team and the school will be helping him to raise money for what is a great opportunity for him.
