Brechin's Barker stars with the ball
STEVEN Barker was Brechin Cricket Club's star man as they recorded a comfortable victory over Strathmore at Lochside on Sunday afternoon.
With the bowlers well on top throughout the match didn't last long.
Brechin had first lease of the wicket, but the batsmen struggled to cope with the slow bowling of Craig McDonald.
Brechin were a wicket down in the opening over, and, as wickets fell steadily thereafter, only Philip Duthie (12) and Aaron Walker (18) got into double figures.
The end tally was 82 all out after 22 and a bit overs, with Craig McDonald excelling with the ball, taking six wickets for 19 runs.
In reply, it was Barker who had the Strathie batsmen struggling on their home track.
Not one home batsman got into double figures, as Barker ripped through the middle order, taking six wickets for the concession of only 12 runs.
Hamish Patterson chipped in with two for five and there were wickets for Gareth Galt and Rocco Lubbe as Strathie made a paltry 56 all out.
Brechin Cricket Club have a home cup-tie against Kirriemuir on Thursday evening.
