DISAPPOINTMENT FOR DEPLETED STABLES
Stables 1, Marykirk 2 - Stables played host to Marykirk in the league on Sunday.
Injury, suspension, holidays and work commitments saw the Stables reduced to the bare bones. With the wind behind them Stables should have been three or four up by half time, but only had a Mark Garnes strike to show for all their efforts.
Keeper Bruce Ritchie gifted the visitors an easy equaliser midway into the second half. Marykirk got the winner with 15 minutes to go. A very disappointing result for the Brechin side, fair play to Marykirk though. They were up for it from the start.
With Ian Ingram now added to the increasing list of long term casualties, the end of the season can't come soon enough. The management and players would like to wish Ian a speedy recovery to fitness from his broken leg and ankle ligament damage.
Stables next match is away to title contenders Lochside through in Montrose this Sunday. Players should meet at the Stables car park for 9:45 am.
This Sunday will also be the end of an era for Sunday league football. Everybody at the Stables would like to wish the Bolag lads all the best in their cup final.
Stables manager Graham Bruce said: "I was shocked to hear the news that the Bolag's cup final would be Manager Ken Middleton's final game in charge, his dedication and enthusiasm for the game over the last 20 years have seen him win numerous cups and league titles along the way. His retirement will be a huge loss to the game."
Team: B. Ritchie, S. Ferguson, D. Forbes (C. Low), S. Potter, A. Reid, C Renilson, G. Southam, B. Douglas, M. Garnes, G. Bruce (M. Reid), B. Thomson.
