Brechin City manager Ray McKinnon was delighted with his side’s performance against Ayr United at Somerset Park on Saturday.

Two first half goals gave Brechin control of the match, and despite an Ayr goal in the 79th minute, a late penalty saw Brechin regain their two goal lead as they secured a second away win in a row.

Speaking after the match, Mr McKinnon said: “The boys played extremely well today.

“It was a very good team performance along with some outstanding individual displays.

“Ayr are a very difficult team to play against so to come here and go away with all three points is very pleasing.”

The manager will be even more pleased following the announcement that Ryan Ferguson has signed for the club until the end of the season after he was released by Dundee United.

Ferguson played as a trialist on Saturday but as now become a permanent fixture at the club.

Brechin’s next fixture is at home to Dunfermline Athletic this Saturday (January 25). They then travel to Ibrox to face Rangers on Saturday, February 1. The Brechin City Supporters’ Club are running a bus to the match. The bus will leave St Ninian’s Square at 10.30 a.m.

Anyone wishing to travel on the bus should contact Steven Stewart on 07547 552209 or leave a message on the Supporters’ Club Facebook page.
